I tried Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo, and here are the results. I, like most *ahem* “natural“ blondes, visit my hair stylist every so often to have my hair… refreshed 🙂 The challenge is finding a stylist that can work with the hair so it doesn’t come out that lovely urine shade of blonde. Unlike animated cartoons indicate, we blondes are not a fan of YELLOW hair.
This is where the violet shampoo comes in. I apparently have been living under a rock all these years because I didn’t find out about this magic potion until recently. I thought the women who achieved that nice silvery shade of blonde were just blessed with good genes and I was destined to live out my days as golden yellow blondie. A friend of mine who started going to the same hair stylist as me told me about the purple shampoo when I was asking how she had such different results with the same hair stylist. Of course, I ordered the shampoo from my phone before I even left her house. (Thank you, Amazon)
Blonde Tested
I tested this out the day after getting my hair “refreshed” at the stylist, so the this was the first wash since the color was applied. I cleansed my hair first with an organic shampoo and then very generously applied the violet shampoo… because I don’t do anything half-ass. I left the shampoo in for a little over 5 minutes while I sat in the bathtub listening to a podcast and shaving (multitasking is my way of life).
The Verdict
This is the first violet shampoo I’ve tried, but it definitely provided the results I was hoping for. It toned down the brassiness and neutralized the yellow hues so I got more of the silver blonde I was aiming for. At the price tag of $12.25 that I paid for it, I would say this shampoo was a fab find!
Which brand of violet shampoo do you prefer? Let me know and I’ll try it out!
